MOVE-OUT INFORMATION / ATHENS PROPERTIES


Well, it's time!  . . . your lease is ending on Sunday, April 30, 2017, at 11 a.m.   It's important your residence is vacant by this time, as new tenants are moving in at 1 p.m that same day.  Check-out inspection teams may begin arriving at properties as early as 7 a.m., on April 30th.

Tenants should leave their place in good and clean condition.  To assist you in this process, we are providing some useful tips; we apologize that the check list does seem long, but don't wish to miss any important details  . . .

  • REMOVE ALL PERSONAL PROPERTY  Properly dispose of garbage, food, refrigerator contents, toilet articles, etc. in trash receptacles outside.  Additionally, a dumpster will be available or tenants' use the week of April 30, it will be located at the corner of W. State & N. Court; across from BP.  Items such as couches, beds and mattresses or old furniture, can be placed in this dumpster.

  • YARDS AND PORCHES should be free of litter, trash, furniture, etc.

  • CALL COLUMBIA GAS & AEP TO REQUEST “FINAL METER READINGS  Schedule the reading to occur as close to April 30th as possible.  Please don't shut off any utilities.  Have the service “returned” to L'Heureux Properties' name.  Water bill?   L’Heureux Properties will pro-rate and deduct each tenant’s share of their final water bill, from tenant’s deposit before it's returned.  

  • CONTACT TELEPHONE, INTERNET AND CABLE COMPANIES TO HAVE SERVICE TERMINATED.  CANCEL NEWSPAPER SUBSCRIPTIONS IN YOUR NAME.

  • NOTIFY L'HEUREUX PROPERTIES WHEN THE LAST OCCUPANT HAS  DEPARTED

  • CONTACT POST OFFICE TO FORWARD MAIL  Departing tenants won't have access to mailboxes after a lease ends.  Address changes can be accomplished online, USPS.COM.

  • RETURN ONLY FRONT & BACK DOOR KEYS TO THE OFFICE   Leave bedroom door keys in their respective locks.  After hours, slide the F/B door keys, marked with tenant's name and address, under our office door at the top of the stairs at 70 B N. Court.  Office will be open on Sunday, April 30, 9 a.m.

  • RETURN SELF-ADDRESSED ENVELOPE & YELLOW CHECK-OUT SHEET no later than May 3.

LIVING ROOM

BEDROOMS

  • remove furniture & personal items

  • removed belongings

  • vacuum and / or mop

KITCHEN

BALCONY / PORCH / DECK / YARD

  • clear cupboards & drawers

  • remove personal belongings

  • clean oven & broiler pans

  • sweep up debris

  • clean stove top, drip pans; lift stove top, clean underneath the top

  • pick up yard litter

  • remove refrigerator contents, clean interior

  • DO NOT TURN OFF REFRIGERATOR

GARBAGE

  • sweep & mop floor

  • take all trash to recepticles

  • removed garbage to outside recepticles

BASEMENT & ATTIC

BATHROOM(S)

  • remove belongings

  • clear vanities, medicine chests

  • wipe washer / dryer clean

  • remove shower curtain

  • clean tub, remove soap scum

UTILITY CO. NUMBERS

  • clean commode

  • Columbia Gas, 1-800-344-4077, tell them your lease ends May 3

  • clean sink, mirror

  • AEP, 1-800-672-2231 , tell them your lease ends May 3

  • sweep, mop floor

  • do not disconnect water service

GENERAL

  • replace light bulbs as needed

  • steam clean carpets. (If inspection shows rugs are dirty beyond normal wear & tear, we contract with “Captain Steamer,” to shampoo carpets.  If you prefer, you may hire a professional carpet cleaning service on your own.  If you choose to do this, receipt  must be provided to our office no later than April 23.  (Unfortunately, we cannot accept receipts for do-it-yourself rental machines, as they do not usually do an adequate job.)

AND FINALLY, ONE LAST REMINDER. . .

  • leave bedroom key in lock; new tenants will need them if they move in after office hours

  • shut, lock all windows & doors

  • return front / back door / mail key to office

  • return check-out sheet to office

  • return questionnaire to office

  • return self-addressed envelope for security deposit, to office

 
As per Ohio Law, security deposits will be processed and returned within 30 days of the 
end of your lease.   Deposit cannot be mailed if you do not provide a forwarding address.
